Our 5th cookbook: From Our Kitchens

The Community Cookbook now has nearly 1,500 recipes after the addition of From Our Kitchens, published in 1962 by the First Congregational Church's Scrooby Club, in Elyria.

From the introduction:

"Scrooby Club is happy to present the fourth edition of a cookbook compiled by the women of First Congregational Church. In 1893 the Little Helpers pamphlet was published, and in 1900 a second edition was published in hard covers. In l951 a third edition with unusual art work was available in limited supply. We have included recipes from 1900 and 1951 in this 1962 edition."

This cookbook features a lot of kitchen tips among the recipes, like this one that I'm sure is true: "Fresh bacon fat is good in waffles." With the addition of this cookbook, we get an increase in our Christmas recipes.
